Payment Options

For members who buy their medical health plans through us, we offer a variety of different payment options.

For members who bought their health plan through a public Exchange (e.g., Maryland Health Connection, DC Health Link or Healthcare.gov for Virginia residents), CareFirst will mail you a bill. Upon receipt of your first bill, and for all future bills, you can make a payment with any of the options detailed below.

Note: If you buy insurance through your employer, check with your Human Resources representative about your payment options.

  • Online payment
    • Set up recurring monthly payments with your checking account or credit/debit card
    • Make a one-time payment with your checking account or credit/debit card
    • View and pay your bill online 24 hours a day, seven days a week using a smartphone, tablet or desktop computer through My Account or the CareFirst mobile app
    • Check the status of your payment and any outstanding balances
    • Enroll in My Account to pay online
  • Cash payment
    • Visit the customer service desk at your local area Walmart, an authorized payment agent of CheckFreePay Corporation
    • Find the location nearest you
      (By clicking this link, you will leave the CareFirst website and access a vendor website. The vendor, CheckFreePay, is solely responsible for the services it provides.)
    • Present your CareFirst invoice/account number (located in the upper right corner of your bill)
    • Make payments using cash and/or a debit card, using your PIN, without any transaction fee
  • Check or money order payment
    • Mail a check or money order and invoice stub to:

    • Make payable to: CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield
    • Include your name, member ID number and group number on the check/money order
    • To ensure we receive your payment in a timely manner, we encourage you to mail the payment several days in advance.

You have the option to pay your dental premium quarterly or annually.

  • Online payment
